Donor Spotlight: Sara and Ken Wise

We are featuring two very special supporters of The Bryan Museum this week, Sara and Justice Ken Wise.  They are long-standing Old 300 members, founding members of our Delegados Advocate Board, and passionate advocates for preserving and promoting the stories of Texas.  In fact, Ken’s blog, “Wise about Texas” has thousands of followers.  Don’t miss it!  http://wiseabouttexas.com/

Justice Ken Wise grew up in Houston, where his great-great-grandfather settled in 1836.  He has served in the Texas judiciary since 2002.  He currently serves on the 14th Court of Appeals after serving as Judge of two different District Courts in Harris County.  He is also the creator and host of the Texas history podcast mentioned above called “Wise About Texas,” which has been heard in 137 countries around the world.  Justice Wise is published in historical journals, teaches Texas history and government at the university level, and currently serves as Vice President of the Texas Supreme Court Historical Society.

Sara Wise has worked in the nonprofit sector as a fundraiser for over 20 years and as a consultant for the last 5 years. She currently serves a Senior Consultant for Mission Advancement, a firm that advises nonprofits around the country on strategic fundraising, capital campaigns, and more.  She volunteers with the Salvation Army, the Barbara Bush Literacy Foundation, and their local church. The Wise’s reside in Houston and have two children, Sarah Jane and Jackson, who are also frequent Bryan Museum visitors.

In their own words, Sara and Ken share why they support the Museum: “The Bryan Museum is a wonderful place.  It tells some of the most important stories in American history through a tremendous collection of not only unique but also very significant art and artifacts.  It’s a special sanctuary for history lovers, art aficionados, museum-goers, and the entire Galveston/Houston community.  We are honored to support and be involved with this Texas treasure.”

We celebrate and thank Sara and Ken for their friendship and loyal support and all they do to bring to life the inspiring stories of our great state!
