After Hours in the Museum
June 4, 2020 @ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Browse our first-floor galleries, socialize, have a glass of wine in La Sirena, and enjoy a presentation by Gary Pinkerton as he examines and discusses Cherokee syllabary note attributed to Chief Bowl on display. Every artifact in the museum, no matter how small, has a story, and those stories can be about some of the most significant events in Texas history before the Revolution. Newly translated, come hear how this message written in the Cherokee alphabet was an indication of the cultural and social challenges facing Native Americans in East Texas.
