[LECTURE] Piecing Together the Past: the Histories and Mysteries of Quilting

July 27 @ 3:00 pm 5:00 pm

Quilts certainly provide great decorative appeal as well as comfort and warmth, but how much do we really know about the unique designs and artistry behind the stitches? Women across the state and the nation have used quilts as a means of documenting a detailed history of their communities and families through hand-stitched images, especially in a time when literacy was not as widespread as it is today. Come to the Bryan Museum to meet Dr. Marian Ann Montgomery, Curator of Clothing and Textiles at the Museum of Texas Tech University and internationally recognized quilting expert to uncover the fascinating history behind these thoughtful crafts.
