[GALLERY PRESENTATION] Through the Lens of Time
November 2 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Professional photographer Russell Autrey will offer a retrospective look at many of the great mansions, businesses and public buildings portrayed in architect Howard Barnstone’s “The Galveston That Was”. Published over 50 years ago, this poignant and vivid picture book is credited as being a catalyst in the preservation and restoration movement in Galveston. The stunning photographs in this record of nineteenth-century Galveston architecture were taken by famed French photographer Henri Cartier Bresson who is known as the father of modern photojournalism. Russell revisited many of the original sites and photographed from the same vantage point for a side by side comparison of then and now. He will share his photographs, impressions, and stories of walking in the footsteps of Bresson.
