Collection Highlight: Mexican Charro Saddle

This Mexican Charro saddle with piteado stitching and silver ornate horn, cantle, conchos and dee riggings is part of The Bryan Museum collection and a highlight in the upcoming exhibition, “Saddle Up Cowboy!”.  Made in 1981 by Jesus Mejia Olea for Mexican President Jose Lopez Portillo.  He was the only President that ran unopposed.  The saddle has Angora goat hair on the hanging skirts.
