The Maestros

The Maestros are our main artists of the Visions of the West exhibition, whose work will be auctioned off on February 11, 2027.  Proceeds benefit both the Bryan Museum and the artist themselves.

The Young Maestros

The Young Maestros are a select group of students with exemplary talent and skill in the field of contemporary Western art. This program provides emerging student artists with the rare opportunity to exhibit alongside professionals and connect with mentors in the art world. For these students, the experience is transformative.

The Young Maestros are selected from our annual I Am Texas Writing and Art competition, launched after 1,000 kids made history together in 2022 by breaking the Guinness World Record for the Largest Published Book in the World (by kids). I Am Texas is an annual competition encouraging kids to share their Texas story through writing and art. The Young Maestros program helps spread the mission of the Bryan Museum by giving students opportunities to build confidence, use their voice, and preserve our Texas history.

Artist Guidelines and Rules

The event will be held at The Bell Tower on 34th in Houston.

We want to put the focus on the art, the artists and your interaction with potential buyers. To achieve this, we will require a commitment from each participating artist to attend the event, which is on a Thursday evening, February 11th, 2027.

We ask that you submit no more than 2 paintings.

The consignment agreement will be for a split of 50/50%.

Consignment Agreement as Stated Below:

  • Agency: Purposes: The Artist appoints The Museum as agents for the works of art (“the Artworks”), consigned under the Agreement, for the purposes of exhibition and sale in an auction. The Museum shall not permit the Artworks to be used for any other purposes without the written consent of the Artist.
  • Consignment: The Artist hereby consigns to The Museum, and The Museum accepts on consignment, those artworks listed in the inventory sheet provided by the Artist, attached hereto. The Artist will apprise the museum of the value of each art piece. The Museum will consult with the Artist in good faith when setting the Reserve Price. Artist agrees to consign pieces for 50% of the hammer price.   
  • Warranty: The Artist hereby warrants that he/she created and possesses unencumbered title to the Artworks and that their descriptions are true and accurate.
  • Duration of the consignment: The Artist must arrange for the Artwork to be delivered to The Museum by November 2, 2026. Artist must collect all unsold Artwork within 30 days after the auction date of February 11, 2027.
  • Display: All works submitted for display shall be display ready. The Museum maintains sole control over the display, placement, lighting and labeling of the artwork under consignment. Artist may not remove the artwork from The Museum at any time during the consignment term.
  • Promotion: During the term, the artist agrees to use good faith promotional efforts to sell the Artwork, including, but not limited to, committing to be present at the auction on February 11th. Artist will use his/her good faith efforts to timely provide The Museum with any supporting documentation or information which is required by the buyer. 

Digital images of each artwork shall be provided to The Museum no later than October 31, 2026.  JPG format, maximum resolution of 300dpi. Professional quality photographs. 

Additional details: Artwork will be on exhibit in The Museum, for public viewing and online bidding, beginning December 10, 2026. 

The exhibit will be moved, in its entirety, to the auction venue in Houston the week of February 7th, for Art Untamed Auction on Thursday, February 11, 2027. Transport will be handled by CrateWorks, Inc., of Houston.
