Between 1907 and 1914, approximately 10,000 Jewish immigrants entered the United States through the Port of Galveston. Their impact on Galveston and the state of Texas can still be seen today. This panel discussion, moderated by Rabbi Peter Kessler of Temple B’nai Israel, will explore the stories of families who made the courageous decision to immigrate to America. A panel of area residents with direct ties to the Galveston Movement will offer the audience a multifaceted view of Jewish immigration and life in Texas.
