This TEKS aligned session will explore Jewish immigration in the early 20th century, with a focus on the Galveston Plan, and its relation to the larger immigrant story in the U.S. Participants will receive context for Jewish immigration, discuss the push/pull factors that brought Jewish immigrants to America, understand the cultural pressures and contributions of Jewish Americans, and grapple with the repercussions of the 1924 Immigration Act. This interactive session will introduce teachers to a variety of source analysis tools and strategies to support their instruction on these topics.
