Jose Cisneros: Mini-Museum
Interested in bringing a traveling mini museum about Jose Cisneros to your school or district?
The Bryan Museum is pleased to offer you this curriculum in conjunction with a selection of hands-on artifacts and original artwork illustrating the life and work of Jose Cisneros. The Bryan Museum’s mission is to bring the history of Texas and the American West to life through its history and literacy programs. Below you’ll find pre, during, and post visit resources to help you spark your students’ curiosity and to guide your students through the exhibit.
What All Is Included?
- Touchable artifacts based on items found in Cisneros’ drawings or from his life (drum, tambourine, feathers, bridle, Mexican flag, report card)
- 6 reproduction drawings by Cisneros illustrating aspects of Texas and the Southwest
- Introductory video about the life and art of Cisneros narrated by his granddaughter
- Art activity based on Cisneros’ signature crosshatching style
- Reading comprehension and writing activities

I Am Texas is now an Annual Competition that launched after 1,000 kids made history together in 2022 by breaking the Guinness World Record for the Largest Published Book in the World (by kids)! We encourage kids to share their Texas story through writing and art.
